It is this technique that enables Laura to create beautiful, uniquely tailored portraits of her subjects. Each portraits aim’s to depict not just a representation of the subject’s image but also give an idea of their personality.

Frequently Asked Questions.

Turnaround Time.
The process takes about a week from start to finish to include time for creating, printing and posting. You will be notified via email when your painting has been started as we do generate a waiting list at times.

Payment.
There are a couple of payment options available, however, we prefer to work through Paypal.
We will ask in the opening email what payment method you prefer to use. If you’re not happy with paying online then you can call us on 07805207808 and place an order this way.

Sizing.
We can create a piece from as small as A6 to as large as A2 depending upon what the client wants.
The size of the piece will affect the final cost.
Photograph.
If you don’t have a digital photo you can use then we ask you to scan the photo and email us that copy. We do not accept any original copies of photographs as we cannot ensure their safety through the mail and we don’t want you to lose a precious picture.

We accept the following types of files (.jpeg, .png, .gif, .bmp, .tiff). We ask that the file size and quality be large enough to see the details clearly. If you have a specific photograph that you want to use, but the quality is bad, then we ask for a couple of other reference photographs to give us a clearer picture.

If you want to have two photos merged together to create a new image, we can easily do this for you. If you have a large selection of people on separate photos and want them to be joined in a big group, we can do this as well. However, we may have to alter individual poses in order to get the correct composition.
If you’re not sure which photo will make a good portrait we can happily go through them with you and discuss the pros and cons of each.

The Painting Process.
One of our first steps is to really get an understanding of who the subject of the portrait is. As we can’t always meet the person directly, we ask that people fill in a short questionnaire as best they can on the persons interests, their style, the type of personality they have. This will be kept with their file and will be strictly confidential, only the artist will see the completed form.
The answers you provide us with are very important as they give us influences to draw from to create a true reflection of the subject. This is where our service becomes different from the number of other portrait services available.

Your final portrait will be created using traditional and digital techniques. Firstly the photograph you provided us with will be used as a reference to draw from, giving us the base sketch. The next step is to incorporate the preferences and personality of the subject into the piece; which we do this in a number of ways: selecting suitable colours from their favourites, influences from their music tastes, the type of clothing they like, as well as the most important, their personality itself!
The Painting Process Continued.
As the portrait is being created you will be updated about its progress at regular intervals, the direction we are taking with the influences and shown an idea thumbnail of what the final portrait will be based upon. Once you ok the ideas we have or give feedback about what you might want altered, the artist starts the final piece that will be completed within a couple of days depending upon the complexity of the subject. You will be sent a small, low-resolution image of the final piece to approve. The portrait will be printed the next day once you have emailed your acceptance and posted the same day in a secure envelope via a ‘signed for on collection’ service provided by the royal mail.

The portrait will not be the original image, as the final piece will be create out of many individual drawings and paintings. These are created traditionally and then scanned and incorporated into the piece digitally. We also include digital elements into the piece when appropriate.

Printing and Paper.
We print all our portraits using a certified pigment ink printer using archival paper provided by the award winning Hahnemühle FineArt paper. We have chosen the William Turner 310gsm 100% cotton paper as it ensures the final portrait captures all the brushstrokes and brilliance of colour that will never fade. We do not provide a framing service at the moment but would like to add this as part of our service in the future.

Do you offer discounts?
